Juice Fasting Diaries – day 16

What do you need for a successful juice fast? Is it lots of recipes? Actually I’m finding that it is easier with less recipes and more focus on just viewing the juices as fuel for the body and no more. Now I am focusing on getting certain ingredients into my juices every day. For me that means daily ingredients like:

  • celery
  • kale or cavolo nero or spring greens
  • carrots
  • ginger
  • lemon
  • beetroot
  • oranges
  • pineapple
  • watermelon

And then adding additional items for flavour and variety such as

  • sweet potato
  • fresh parsley or basil
  • an occasional chilli or cayenne pepper
  • raspberries
  • strawberries
  • papaya
  • mango

To make sufficient quantities you need about 2-3lb of produce for each 500-600ml of juice so shop around and make the most of your local market if you’re lucky enough to have one! Oh yes and I’ve lost 16lb in 16 days!
